From next year, only children who will have turned 6 by September 15 will be eligible to enter public primary school, said Minister of Education in his speech at the presentation of the National Concept for Reforming the General Education System.
“Research has shown that kids under the age of 6 who currently enter school face difficulties fully integrating into the educational process due to their socio-emotional development and readiness.
Therefore, in line with our transition to an 11-year educational programme, we have decided that, starting next year and continuing annually, only those children who will have turned 6 by September 15 will be eligible to enrol in school”, - said Givi Mikanadze.
