Officers of the Central Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs have arrested 6 people on charges of illegal purchase and storage of narcotic drugs in a particularly large amount, facilitating their sale, and planting and growing plants containing narcotic drugs.

Among the detainees are both Georgian and foreign citizens.

The investigation established that the defendants were involved in criminal schemes for the sale of narcotics. For the purpose of further sale, they placed narcotic drugs in various locations, took, sent them with appropriate markings and coordinates to persons interested in the purchase.

As a result of the personal search and other search activities held in residential homes, as well as from various locations, law enforcement officers seized as evidence a particularly large amount of narcotics prepared for sale, including: up to one kg of cocaine, 5 kg of "marijuana", up to 5 kg of "cannabis", "hashish", 520 tablets of "lysergide" (LSD) and 23 packages of "mephedrone".

As a result of the investigative actions, the police also seized materials necessary for packaging narcotics. The investigation is being conducted under Articles 260, 260-4 and 265-1 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, envisioning up to 20 years or life imprisonment.
