The Minister of Education, Science, and Youth of Georgia, Givi Mikanadze, held a working meeting in Paris with the Director-General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), Khaled El-Enany.

The parties discussed the importance of the long-standing partnership between Georgia and UNESCO and explored perspectives for strengthening cooperation. The Minister briefed the Director-General of UNESCO on the ongoing and planned reforms within Georgia's education system.

Special attention was paid to the opportunity for fully funded tuition at Georgia's state universities, improving quality across all levels of education, and promoting the development of vocational education.

Khaled El-Enany positively assessed the ongoing reforms in Georgia's education system and expressed readiness for the organization to continue actively supporting the development of the country’s education, science, and culture sectors. At the end of the meeting, the parties agreed to continue intensive work to implement joint projects and initiatives.

The bilateral meeting was attended by the Ambassador of Georgia to France and Permanent Representative of Georgia to UNESCO, Irakli Kurashvili.
