Coalition of media organizations released statement regarding ongoing processes on GPB

A coalition of media organizations has released a statement regarding the ongoing processes on the Georgian Public Broadcaster. The statement says that instead of promised cutting of expenditures, new vacanicies continue to be added at the broadcaster and the staff from the private TV company GDS is hired without any justification.

Sulkhan Saladze, member of the Board of Trustees of the Georgian Public Broadcaster, calls on the management of the Public Broadcaster for openness. He also noted that additional questions are raised with the regard to the salaries of new employees.

"I would like to see that the Director General and General Management are much more clear about why new recruitment is carried out in this form and in this manner. Whether it is interfering in editorial politics and how it is expressed, it probably will be more clear in the future,"- Sulkhan Saladze said.

Executive Director of Georgian Charter of Journalistic Ethics Nata Dzvelishvili said journalists were transferred from GDS not for their professionalism, but because they worked in GDS.
