"We are waiting for documents. If we pass off our IDs , we will not be able to go to Georgia in two months," - the letter was sent to "Curier "by the population of Gali, where the locals ask for help.

The Georgian population of Gali faces a new ultimatum. They have to hand over their Georgian IDs and receive a residence permit that will allow them to stay and live in the Gali district. The same document is needed to cross the so called Samegrelo-Abkhazia administrative border.

The occupation regime offers only temporary residence permits. Most of the locals are confused and do not know how to go to Samegrelo after passing off the documents.

Chairman of the Government of Abkhazia Vakhtang Kholbaia says that issuing residence permits is only the first part of the long-term plan of the Russian Federation, which has recently been activated.

Zurab Abashidze, the Prime Minister"s Special Representative for Relations with Russia does not have information about the new ultimatum by the occupation regime of Abkhazia. Whether he will speak about these facts at the meeting with Grigory Karasin, it will become known tomorrow.

The inhabitants of the Gali district are now waiting for the Georgian government"s actions and instructions. They say that they can not solve this problem independently.
