The trend of impairment of the national currency continues. Minister of Economy of Georgia responds to the depreciation of Lari. Dimitri Kumsishvili refraines from making predictions, but says that the demand for a dollar will be reduced from the beginning of January.

"There are quite a lot of forward deals on the market, which means that we have to demand the currency from the beginning of January should decrease. However, I repeat once again, I will refrain from any kind of prediction, "- said Dimitri Kumsishvili.

According to the Economy Minister, the National Bank of Georgia will intervene in the process after seeing that the impairment of Lari continues for a long time.

The official rate established by the National Bank is 2.70 GEL today. The regulatory agency will establish new rate in the afternoon.

In the currency exchange booths the price of one dollar exceeds 2.74 lari.
