Candidate nominated by the government, will not enjoy broad support of the society - Shalva Shavgulidze about Chief Prosecutor"s Candidate

Last day for officially nominating the Chief Prosecutor"s Candidate - admittance of applications will stop in the Prosecutor"s Council in a few hours. At this point, 20 candidates have expressed their desire to hold the post. The head of the government administration, Shalva Tadumadze, is named as "Georgian Dream`s" favorite. Among the candidates is Irakli Nadareishvili, who is also supported by the government. At this stage both of them refrain from commenting on other candidates - they speak about the importance of reform in the system and the importance of politically neutral position of the Chief Prosecutor.

"The candidate nominated by the government can not benefit from the broad support of the society," - states Shalva Shavgulidze.

Another candidate, Paata Shavadze, explains that the chief prosecutor should be a politically neutral figure.

"If the Chief Prosecutor of Georgia will be a figure from the government, I predict to him the fate of Archil Kbilashvili at best or Irakli Shotadzeat first," Paata Shavadze said.

The prosecutor"s candidate Nona Pilauri talks about the image of the prosecutor and says that the ministry should not be selective. According to her, the institution is to establish "revolutionary approaches."
