Anti-Constitutional - NGOs evaluate transferring pardon commission"s rights to the Ministry of Justice

The civic sector considers the president"s initiative to pass over the pardon commission"s rights to the Ministry of Justice as anti-constitutional. According to them, it is inadmissible in both political and legal terms; in addition, it will question the reliability of the process.
The President of Georgia voiced the initiative during her speech yesterday and criticized Giorgi Margvelashvili"s pardoning policy, which as she said was more like an amnesty than a human gesture.
"This decision is anti-constitutional - first, the Minister of Justice will not be able to get into the competence of the President, and if the Parliament intends to adopt the law, it is directly a violation of the constitution," said Lasha Tugushi, director of the Liberal Academy Tbilisi Foundation.
