Riga"s mayor dismissed

The mayor of Riga Nil Ushakov was dismissed due to a corruption scandal. The case concerns the violations in the municipal transportation company.

According to the official information, facts of unreasonable spending of money took place during his term at the office.

The decision on dismissal of mayor was taken by the Minister of Environmental Protection and Regional Development, who has the authority to do so according to the Latvian legislation.
