Tbilisi assesses the visit of the Russian Foreign Minister to Sukhumi as a provocation.

According to the Secretary of the Security Council Davit Rakviashvili, Russia is once again insulting Georgia and those people whom the occupants forced to leave their homes.

"By this step, the Russian Federation is once again insulting the statehood of Georgia as well as the people who had to leave their houses, and this action has no justification not only from the perspective of Georgia, but from the perspective of the whole international community," David Rakviashvili said.

Lavrov`s visit is assessed as continuation of annexation by the majority which states that this is another destructive step from the neighboring country.

"This visit is considered as a part of the occupation process and is a provocative action. As for the opening of the diplomatic missions, it is a violation of international law and it is not recognized, "said Nino Goguadze.

The opposition accuses the ruling party oflosing positions with Russia .

According to them, in response to Russia`s provocative actions in the occupied regions, the government should work on the international level.

"The only way out is to recognize the mistakes that Georgian government has committed against the sovereignty and to take on a new policy that is aimed at the active involvement of our international partnership," said Nugzar Tsiklauri, one of the leaders of the UNM.
