Vladimir Putin`s visit to Sokhumi - opposition accuses government of inactivity

Russian President Vladimir Putin`s visit to Sokhumi is a provocation and an attempt to legitimize occupation by Russia of Georgian territories, according to the opposition.

According to them, Moscow will carry out aggressive actions and provocative steps in the future. Opponents accuse the government of being inactive and demand the continuation of the issue on the international arena.

According to Giorgi Tugushi, member of the parliamentary faction "European Georgia - Movement for Freedom", the visit is an expression of support towards occupation.

"Putin`s planned visit to Abkhazia is a sort of pinnacle that finalizes a number of destructive actions that the Russian authorities are carrying out throughout the occupation. We once again received a signal that the softening of wording with Russia brings no results, "- Giorgi Tughushi said.

Giorgi Baramidze, a member of the political council of the United National Movement said that the Georgian authorities do not adequately respond to such actions towards Russia.
