President of Georgia has released a statement regarding the 25th anniversary of the beginning of the war in Abkhazia. Giorgi Margvelashvili recalls the events that took place 25 years ago.

The President speaks about the importance of Georgia"s territorial integrity and declares that de-occupation of territories still remains the main challenge of the country.

"Bloody confrontation has taken away lives of tens of thousands of our citizens - soldiers or civilians on both sides. Hundreds of thousands of people have been displaced in their homeland. Responsibility for them, relations with Abkhazians and Ossetians, territorial conflicts in general and their consequences remains a major challenge for our state and society. The answer to this challenge is only through persistent protection of peace and at the same time, principle of international and neighboring politics, "- reads the statement of the President of Georgia.
