The forest area near the village of Daba has been on fire for more than three hours. Border police helicopter has already been involved in the fire extinguishing efforts.

Fire brigades are also mobilized at the site, although they can not get close to the scene. Because of wind there is a danger of fire spreading.

Akaki Machutadze, state attorney-governor of Samtskhe-Javakheti states that despite the wind the fire will not spread to the settlements.

Head of National Forestry Agency of the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources Protection Tornike Gvazava explains that the fire was spread to the upper side of the mountain.

According to Borjomi Municipality Gamgebeli Dimitri Kipiani, fire-rescue services are not able to get close to fire and the work is complicated due to location.

According to the population, the fire started from dry trees . The population are actively involved in fire extinguishing activities.
