Number of asylum-seekers has increased sharply - says the study, released by French Office for the Protection of Refugees and Stateless Persons.
According to the report, 1542 citizens of Georgia applied to France for shelter in 2017, which means that the number of asylum-seekers increased by 602.
The document notes that the motive named by most of the asylum seekers is the political persecution of the United National Movement activists by the ruling party.
Other reasons include ethnic conflicts, actions of occupational forces, persecution of sexual minorities and domestic violence. According to the study, there are cases where the applicants speak about the fear of arrest and imprisonment.
