Presidential Elections and " Principles of Ethics" - Presentation held at Hotel "Biltmore"

Presentation of the "Principles of Ethics" of candidates participating in the 28 October presidential elections has been held at Hotel Biltmore. Prior to the elections, candidates agree on principles of ethics.

The presentation was delivered by CEC Chairperson Tamar Zhvania and Swiss Ambassador Lucas Beinglinger.

Signatories of the document pledge to protect the interests of the public, the principles of ethics and the law.

The Code of Ethics imposes the obligation that the signatories will comply with the Constitution of Georgia, as well as the freedom of the competitors, and will not interfere with the competitive presidential candidates in the pre-election campaign.

Also, according to the new document, presidential candidates should not use xenophobic statements during the pre-election period.

"The principle of ethics that protect the interests of the public, the refusal to use violence, the use of threats and blackmail, the use of hate speech, is obviously important for us. This is primarily the honor of our country and voters when the candidates implement these principles of ethics, "- said Tamar Zhvania, the chairperson of the Central Election Commission of Georgia.

The statement was made by the chairman of the Movement for Building, the presidential candidate Davit Usupashvili.

"The Georgian political space is extremely distorted , immoral full of unethical attitude, expressions, actions and the type of collisions that are of purely personal character and are aimed at destruction and not victory," Davit Usupashvili said.
