Ukraine’s President Petro Poroshenko said on Monday he would propose that parliament declare martial law in the country after the Russian military attacked and seized three Ukrainian navy ships in the Black Sea.

The decision to announce the martial law in Ukraine will be taken today.

The incident took place yesterday in the Azov Sea when the Ukrainian Navy said the Russian military opened fire on several of its ships, wounding six sailors and seizing three vessels.

There were 23 people in the Ukrainian ships detained by the Russian side. Contact with them can not be established yet. Moscow claims that Ukrainian ships violated the Russian border and call it a provocation by Kiev. Protest rally was held at the Russian Embassy in Kiev due to the incident.
