Discrimination on Religious Grounds - NGOs Talk about Sesiashvili"s Initiative on Compulsory Military Service

Discrimination on Religious Grounds - Civil Society considers the initiative of the member of parliamentary majority, Irakli Sesiashvili, regarding recruitment in military compulsory service considers unconstitutional.
With the initiative of Sesiashvili, only the Orthodox priesthood or the students of the theological institution will be entitled to postpone the military obligatory service. This means that citizens of other confessinons who perform religious activities will not be entitled to postpone the obligatory service.
Representatives of NGOs say that the project drafted by the majority will create many problems in the future. One of the acute and impending problems is the creation of an unequal situation in the society. According to them, Parliament should not support this initiative.
