United National Movement expresses its solidarity to Adjara TV. The party releases a statement. UNM notes that the authorities are trying to use an advisory council and thus gain access to an independent broadcaster.
As it is known, the Advisory Board of Adjara TV demands the resignation of the director of the channel Natia Kapanadze.
United National Movement says that Natia Kapanadze is well known with her high professionalism and independence standard, which is unacceptable for Georgian Dream government.
The party calls on the NGOs, the Charter of Journalistic Ethics and the Public Defender of Georgia to react on this fact.
"The attempt to gain political influence on the director of the broadcaster, funded by independent, impartial citizens is absolutely unacceptable in a democratic society. Such an attack on the media threatens Georgia"s Euro-Atlantic future, "-says in the statement of the UN.
