High risk of physical confrontation - NGOs urge political parties to be constructive

Non-governmental organizations call political parties to be more constructive. Influential organizations signed a statement regarding the May 19 elections.

The third sector estimates that processes in Zugdidi election district were aggravated. NGOs focus on the necessity of conducting an election campaign in a calm environment.

The statement mentions the attack on Sandra Roelofs and the scandalous recording, involving Gia Danelia, a member of the "Georgian Dream" .

According to the NGOs, several thousand people have been mobilized by candidates and their supporting parties on election day, thereby there is a high risk of physical confrontation between the parties.

The third sector calls on all political forces to refrain from confrontation.

"We urge all political forces to abstain from aggression and confrontation in order to prevent irreparable damage to electoral processes.

We also call on law enforcement and investigative agencies to use all legal resources available, in order to ensure public order and to investigate possible violations of the law, " - reads the statement.
