Gia Volsky is calling the detention of former and current high-ranking officials in Batumi a sad fact. A member of the parliamentary majority states that the number of detainees taking into account the special operation may be called extraordinary.
"The high-ranking government officials were not detained by the opposition, the government officials were detained by the government. It"s a sad fact, I know a lot of them, but this does not mean anything if we are dealing with corruption, "-Gia Volsky said.
A special operation was held in Batumi recently. Former and current high-ranking officials of the City Hall are detained. Former mayor of Batumi Giorgi Ermakov is among the detainees. The case concerns abuse of power and embezzlement of a large amount of state property.
