Kandelaki accuses Ministry of Justice of spreading lies on Merabishvili"s case- what is written by the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe

European Georgia accuses the Ministry of Justice of lies. The party says that the information sent from the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe to Tsulukiani"s Office on Vano Merabishvili"s case is not true. According to Giorgi Kandelaki, it is a lie that the committee has approved the measures taken by the government for the execution of the Strasbourg Court decision.
In fact, Kandelaki said the committee gave the following recommendation to the Minister of Justice.
"I would like to highlight some of the lies in the statement of the Ministry of Justice. First of all, the Ministry of Justice says that the Committee of Ministers has approved an investigation into the episode of Vano Merabishvili"s withdrawal. This is a lie. The Committee of Ministers calls upon the Georgian authorities to investigate the scandalous episode and hold the culprits responsible, "- Giorgi Kandelaki said.
In addition, Giorgi Kandelaki said that Vano Merabishvili did not have the full access to the criminal case against him and the committee expressed concern about it.
"The Committee pointed out with concern that the National Court supported the decision of the Prosecutor"s Office not to grant Merabishvili the status of the victim and requested once again to grant this status," Giorgi Kandelaki said.
According to Giorgi Kandelaki, it is a lie that the Committee of Ministers evaluated Merabishvili"s case on December 4, 2018.
"In December 2018, the Committee of Ministers did not discuss the issue of Merabishvili"s release from prison," Giorgi Kandelaki said.
