" Most citizens think that the government does not investigate cases of corruption" - A noisy survey published by Transparency International - Georgia regarding elite corruption in Georgia.
The document concerns public opinion polls and lists specific facts that may be related to high ranking officials or persons close to high-ranking officials, but law enforcement officials have left these facts unresponsive. For example, the case of TBC Bank, Otar Partskhaladze, the officials" property, the bribed election, the case of "Omega Group", where the main addressees were the highest officials of the government.
Erekle Urushadze, the managing director of NGO Transparency International Georgia says that only a small percentage of citizens believe that the situation in the fight against corruption in the country is getting better.
"Only 15% of citizens think that the situation is better regarding fight against corruption. Also, the majority of citizens think that the government does not investigate cases of corruption, when high-ranking officials or influential people ,associated with the ruling party are involved in them,"- said Erekle Urushadze.
