"I came to Gori, I saw the barbed wire fences. It made a terrible impact on me" - Vice-President of the German Bundestag

The international conference is underway in Batumi, where three panels are planned. Claudia Roth, Vice-President of the German Bundestag, spoke about Vladimir Putin"s statement and relations between Georgia and Russia. According to her, when she was in Gori, the sight of the barbed wire fences affected him. She stated that the EU needs to make the best to solve conflicts peacefully."
When I came to Gori I saw the fences, the reality of the creeping occupation and the aggression, it was a very bad impression for me. If Vladimir Putin speaks about history, remind him what happened in 1991 when the boundaries were determined and they were absolutely different from now. "- said Claudia Roth, Vice-President of the German Bundestag.
Pavel Fischer, chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations and Defense Committee of the Czech Republic, expressed his position at the conference. He said it was a huge mistake when Russia was allowed to take place in the Council of Europe again.
"From my point of view, the allowance of Russia to the Council of Europe again was a huge mistake. Many countries such as Ukraine and Georgia opposed to this decision. Consequently, according to the solidarity that we appreciate in the Council of Europe we should work together. Together we must promote the rule of law. In the mentioned situation we did not show solidarity." - said Pavel Fischer, chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee on Defense and Security.
