The Georgian government broke a new record. Keeping public officials this year has cost people the most. The report is published by the State Audit Office. Graphs show that from January to June 2019 only 507 million GEL was spent on the salaries of officials.

However, last year, in the first six months of 2018, the population spent less than $ 40 million on government officials.

When it comes to paying bonuses and supplements, the numbers are even more impressive. In just six months this year, people have paid GEL 735 million in bonuses, salaries and allowances to public officials, up by 48 million more in comparison to the same period last year.

The record-holder is the Ministry of the Interior, on whose staff salaries, bonuses and supplements  228 million have already been spent this year or 57 million more than last year.
