KGB officer appointed as an adviser to the President of Georgia

A KGB officer appointed as an advisor to the President of Georgia in defense and security affairs. Dimitri Lezhava is also an activist of the Georgian Dream.

Security experts protest Lezhava"s appointment. They do not understand why are not young military officers with Western education appointed to such positions.

“Dimitri Lezhava was a security officer in 1983-94, he was a KGB officer, he is not a military officer, and it is strange to appoint a KGB officer as an adviser to the president, "said Paata Gigauri, the head of the defence and security department at the Civil Movement.

Teona Akubardia, a member of the board of the Civil Defense and Security Council, says there is no shortage of Western-educated security personnel in Georgia.
