Grigol Vashadze, the Chairman of the United National Movement party has notified the Government of the decision by the party and Mikheil Saakashvili to provide Georgian citizens abroad with free flights so that they can return to their country.
“From March 31 to April 2, we could have performed free flights from Rome, Berlin, Barcelona, and Warsaw. We found air companies and obtained the required amount; however, the government refused to do so, and we lost time, with our citizens finding themselves in a worse situation.
Eventually the government approved their initiative, but now we need to forward documents to the Foreign Ministries of those countries from which flights are performed.
Flights-related decisions should be made after consultations with the Government.
We are ready to meet the government, and we were prepared for this meeting nine days ago. We are ready to put our heads together, study the issue, delegate responsibility to them for the already prepared flights, and perform these flights afterward”, - said Grigol Vashadze during the briefing.
