Communion from a common spoon carries the risk of spreading the infection - Tengiz Tsertsvadze

Receiving communion from a common spoon carries the risk of spreading the infection and does not require any special scientific research. Such a statement made today the Director of the Infectious Diseases Hospital.

“This is a sensitive topic. We respect the Georgian Church, but I have always expressed and will continue to express my point of view. Communion with a common spoon carries the risk of spreading the infection and does not require any special scientific research”, - said Tengiz Tsertsvadze.

He also added that the scenario of the development of the epidemic in Georgia is not dramatic, but one of the best in Europe and America.

“The current measures across Georgia are sufficient. I do not consider it necessary to tighten them for the time being. However, if the irresponsible events which we saw yesterday in Marneuli continue, then it will be on the agenda. We would like to call on everyone to follow those relatively soft rules so that we do not need to tighten them”, - concluded the Director of the Infectious Diseases Hospital.
