Appointing wanted ex-president Saakashvili as vice PM in Ukraine unacceptable – Giorgi Gakharia

The Prime Minister of Georgia says that the possible appointment of former President Mikheil Saakashvili as vice Prime Minister for reforms in Ukraine by a strategic partner state is absolutely unacceptable.

“Ukrainian people are brothers to us. The Ukraine is our strategic partner and nothing can change this in the long run, however, the appointment of a person convicted and wanted in Georgia as a vice-premier by our partner is categorically unacceptable to us, like it is unacceptable personally to me to drag the President of my country out of a restaurant by police force.

Of course, such a step will be followed by a relevant reaction from Georgia. We have not summoned the ambassador yet, but if such a decision is made, of course, we will at least summon the ambassador for consultations”, - concluded Giorgi Gakharia.

Mikheil Saakashvili said on April 22 that the offer for the new post came from President Volodymyr Zelensky.
