Salome Zourabichvili, the President of Georgia addressed the Georgian military servicemen and commanders from the Military Management Center and congratulated them on the Day of Georgian Defense Forces.

“You have been the backbone of our state for 29 years. The state has grown together with you and now it has its place in the international community.

It is important that the world is changing today. Georgia has faced the great challenge facing the world very successfully at the first stage, but there are many other difficult stages ahead and your role is very important at this difficult time.

Your professionalism makes Georgia proud both inside the country and internationally. This is acknowledged by all our partners.

You are the pride of this state and thank you very much for this”, - concluded the Commander-in-Chief of Georgian Defense Forces.

29 years have passed since the establishment of Georgian army. In December 1990 National Guard was founded by a resolution of supreme council. Under the direction of April 24, 1991 an order on conscription of recruits for compulsory military service was issued and conscription in the army officially launched on April 30. This event became the foundation date of modern Georgian Army.
