The Interagency Coordination Council held its regular meeting under the chairmanship of Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia today.
During said videoconference, the council discussed the process of lifting restrictions, and the possible impact of this process on the epidemiological situation in general.
Although the quarantine in Marneuli was lifted today, other restrictions applicable throughout Georgia remain in force, the meeting emphasized.
On the Government’s decision, effective today, beauty salons and aesthetic medicine centers may reopen in line with the rules and standards defined by the Health Ministry, and the ban on both indoor and outdoor gatherings of more than three people has also been lifted. However, the ban on gatherings of more than 10 people remains in force, and so do restrictions on vehicle movement, namely on movement of more than three persons per car (including the driver). Passengers must take back seats.
Specialists from the National Disease Control Center and public healthcare experts informed the council of the epidemiological situation in the Bolnisi Municipality and measures taken in locked-down villages. As it was pointed out, medical personnel continue medical action on the ground, with active testing and thermal screening underway. The enforcement of lockdown measures is monitored by law enforcements on the ground.
As for the nationwide epidemiological situation, as of today, 701 coronavirus cases have been confirmed, with 432 persons having already recovered, and three patients transported to Georgia from abroad. Death toll stands at 12.
3 787 persons remain under quarantine, and 337 are hospitalized under medical supervision.
The meeting reiterated that easing certain restrictions places greater responsibility on citizens for scrupulously observing recommendations from healthcare specialists in order to avoid the worsening of the epidemiological situation and the need to reinstate previously lifted restrictions.
The Interagency Coordination Council, under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister, continues a series of regular meetings to take coordinated action. The council’s work involves active engagement from the Parliament of Georgia, under the leadership of Chairman Archil Talakvadze, and the Administration of the President.
