The Azerbaijani border service has warned of possible provocations “by a group of Georgian citizens” near Georgia’s VI century David Gareji monastery complex.
Today Georgia celebrates Garejoba, commemorating one of the Assyrian fathers, David Garejeli, who founded the monastery complex.
Trend.az news agency cited the Azerbaijani border service as saying that the Georgian border guards have been informed regarding the possible provocation. Azerbaijan said that if there is any provocation, the organizers would be responsible for that.
Two country have not agreed borders since the collapse of the USSR, while the Georgian-Azerbaijani state border demarcation commission renewed work only May of 2019, after several-year suspension.
