Today is the birthday of Georgia’s national hero Giorgi Antsukhelidze, who heroically sacrificed his life for his country in the Russian-Georgian war of 2008. He would have turned 36 today.

The military serviceman of the 41st Battalion of IV Infantry Brigade Junior Sergeant Giorgi Antsukhelidze was killed in action in the fight for Georgia’s territorial integrity. He is awarded with Vakhtang Gorgasali I rank Order postmortem, Service Medal Devoted to Motherland and has been granted the title of National Hero. NCO Training Academy was named after his name.

Under the initiative of Ministry of Defence of Georgia, Girogi Antsukhelidze’s name was granted to an unnamed Pick in Tusheti.
