By decision of the Minister of Internal Affairs, Vakhtang Gomelauri, the ordinary staff of the Fire-Fighters and Rescuers Department of the Emergency Situations Management Service shall be granted officer ranks.
340 fire-fighters with higher education were promoted to the rank of junior lieutenant. Also, up to 3,000 fire-fighters and rescuers who will take a special course at the Police Academy will be able to become officers.
This decision to the staff was presented by the Deputy Minister Ioseb Tchelidze, the Head of the Emergency Situations Management Service Mr. Teimuraz Mghebrishvili and the First Deputy Head of the Emergency Situations Management Service Levan Ghirsiashvili. At the meeting the innovations already implemented in 2020 were discussed and future plans were introduced to the staff as well.
The meeting was symbolically attended by one representative from each fire-fighters and rescuers units. Fire-fighters and rescuers noted that this news will be an additional incentive for them and they will treat an officer rank with a special responsibility.
At the end of the meeting, the Deputy Minister handed over to the fire-fighters and rescuers new shoulder boards.
