Confrontation in the Rugby Union – the Vice President Merab Beselia detained

Vice President of the Rugby Union Merab Beselia was detained for wounding Captain of Junkers Ramaz Kharazishvili.

The officers of Vake-Saburtalo police division under Tbilisi Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as a result of operative-investigative activities detained him (DoB 1969) in Mtskheta for causing health damage on purpose as well as for illegal purchase–keeping and carrying of firearm.

Investigation established that detainee, on the basis of conflict, inflicted injuries with a firearm to Ramaz Kharazishvili. (DoB 1988). The wounded person has been transferred to the hospital, where he is undergoing respective medical treatment. His life is no longer in danger.

Investigation is in progress under the article 118 and 236 envisaged under the Criminal Code of Georgia.

The interrogations in the case of the controversy in the Rugby Union ended late at night.

Law enforcers listened to the representatives of the federation regarding the incident.
