As a result of operative-searching and investigative activities, representatives of Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, detained Turkish citizen on the fact of breach of procedures related to movement of particularly large amount of goods across the customs border of Georgia.

Investigation has revealed that the accused person, through the customs checkpoint „Sarpi “, hidden from customs control, has brought particularly large amount of undeclared gold products, during which he was exposed.

As a result of investigative activities 299 grams of gold products were seized, customs value of which exceeds GEL 35 000.

Investigations is underway under the second part of article 214 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which envisages imprisonment from 5 to 7 years.
