Rugby clubs are under pressure - club representatives are talking about threatening calls

Rugby clubs of Georgia are under the pressure. According to club representatives, they are being forced not to run in the election of the Rugby Union’s president.

“The forces behind Bacho Khurtsidze are calling our support teams arbitrarily. They are threatening some of our supporters with the cessation of funding, and some - with imprisonment. Besides, they are creating an illusion that all these efforts come from the State.

Givi Chichinadze and Soso Tkemaladze – I would like to address you. Nobody has done what you are doing now, after Merabishvili and those difficult years”, - said Ramaz Kharazishvili, a rugby player and the representative of the clubs’ initiative group.

One of the veteran rugby players calls on the Prime Minister to defuse the situation.

“Exceeding official authority is a criminal offense that has no statute of limitations. Everyone knows their names and surnames. Hopefully no one will continue to put pressure on our supporter clubs. We are calling on our Prime Minister to defuse the situation so that tomorrow’s elections can be held in a calm atmosphere”, - said veteran rugby player Boba Kvinikhidze.
