36 families living in the Varketili-3 Massif, in the damaged building, will receive completely new apartments - Kakha Kaladze

36 families living in the Varketili-3 Massif, in the damaged building, will receive completely new apartments. Such a statement made today the Mayor of Tbilisi.

“Another fourth project will be carried out as part of the program to replace damaged buildings in Varketili-3 Massif, in particular, a 4-story damaged house (building 6, block 4) will be demolished and a 10-story house will be built instead. Thirty-six families lived in terrible conditions. Now, after agreeing with them, a new building will be built. A conceptual design, a working design, and estimates are currently being prepared for this location. Then, we will announce a tender that is open to any businesses interested.

The first pilot project being implemented in Block 7, Varketili-3 Massif, is also a part of this program. Works here are ongoing actively in agreement with the population. The building has already been demolished to be replaced by a new modern building. The 36 families are currently residing in apartments that the Mayor’s office has rented for them, and will return to the new, tidy location to live once the work is finished.

The replacement program for damaged houses is crucial overall. Anyone experiencing a similar issue while residing in a severely damaged house should get in touch with the district administration. We face a similar issue of hazardous buildings in the historic districts of the capital. We have accordingly charged the appropriate bodies with resolving the issue, and will soon present a plan outlining how we see the buildings in the historic areas of the city being handled and renovated”, - said Kakha Kaladze.
