Prime Minister of Georgia meets World Bank’s Executive Director

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze met with Eugene Rhuggenaath, Executive Director of the World Bank.

The main topic of the meeting was the productive cooperation between Georgia and the World Bank over the past three decades and the important role of support from the bank in the country"s economic growth and development.

It was noted that numerous far-reaching projects were implemented with the World Bank’s support in a variety of economic sectors, including road infrastructure, energy, education, and agriculture, also in the direction of regional, municipal, and technological advancement, with their aggregate value exceeding 4 billion USD. The bank"s current portfolio in Georgia encompasses 15 projects with an aggregate investment value of 1.5 billion USD.

At the meeting, the parties singled out maintaining macroeconomic stability as the Georgian Government’s priority alongside structural and human capital reforms and the World Bank’s significant supporting initiatives in this direction, for which the Prime Minister expressed his gratitude to the bank.
