Labour Inspection Service summarized activities implemented during last year

Head of Labour Inspection Service presented information on the reforms implemented in 2022 and future plans. According to Beka Peradze, important steps in terms of improved rights of employees were taken last year.

Working hours of the employees of service, transport, mining and construction services were reduced to 40-hour weekly schedule. Working hours exceeding 40-hour weekly schedule are considered overtime according to the Governmental decree and are subject to additional compensation, according to corresponding regulation.

The report emphasizes setting of minimum wage ceiling of physicians and nurses aimed at creation of decent working conditions for representatives of medical sector.

An employer’s guide on announcing vacations was developed, which is aimed at minimizing cases of discrimination in pre-contractual relations.

As stated by Beka Peradze, in total, supervision in terms of labour rights affected about 70, 000 individuals. According to him, the tendency of reducing accidents at workplaces was maintained in 2022.

Over the last five years, number of workplace deaths has been reduced by 41%.

Minister of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Labor, Health and Social Affairs of Georgia, Zurab Azarashvili, social partners, representatives of business sector, local and international organizations attended the presentation.
