With this law, I don"t see any chance of opening negotiations, and this message from the EU is very, very clear. Such a statement made today Michael Roth, the Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of German Parliament [Bundestag], who is on a visit to Georgia, after a meeting with opposition representatives.
“Our message is very clear: we are friends of Georgia, we are friends of the Georgian people. Georgia’s place is in Europe, which means that we are working very hard on Georgia’s path to the EU, but please, dear Government, dear ruling party, stop the “Foreign Agents” law.
I do not see any chance for a bright future of Georgia if the Government does not withdraw this law. I appreciate the people who hold peaceful demonstrations in the streets. Tbilisi is the real capital of Europe at this difficult time, and I hope we will have an opportunity to talk with the representatives of the government, parliament, opposition and civil society…
With this law, I don’t see any chance of opening negotiations, and this message from the EU is very, very clear”, - added Michael Roth.
