A total of 53 complaints have been submitted to the Election Commission by local NGOs, primarily concerning Facebook posts – Papuashvili

A total of 53 complaints have been submitted to the Election Commission by local non-governmental organizations, primarily concerning Facebook posts. Such a statement made today the Speaker of the Georgian Parliament.

“Recently, there have been frequent appeals from non-governmental organizations claiming the use of administrative resources and violations of pre-election agitation.

Especially since the OSCE/ODIHR report was quite positive in this regard, NGOs are attempting to create informational noise, suggesting we are facing considerable violations.

Out of the 53 complaints received, 39 pertain to alleged administrative resource misuse, while 14 relate to pre-election agitation violations.

Notably, 32 of the 39 complaints about administrative resources involve Facebook posts. Regarding pre-election agitation, seven out of 14 complaints are about posts made by election commission members.

It seems that the main thing monitoring organisations are doing is patrolling Facebook posts.

Let’s evaluate the actual occurrences concerning these violations, especially regarding the use of administrative resources. The participation by MPs or delegates in various events has been cited as one of the alleged violations”, - said Shalva Papuashvili.
