U.S. President-elect Donald Trump was “interested” in 2 points of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s Victory Plan, writes The Financial Times [FT].
According to the FT, Ukraine is developing its own “Victory Plan” for the incoming Trump administration, emphasizing potential business deals, access to raw materials, and troop deployments.
The two ideas were outlined in Volodymyr Zelensky’s “Victory Plan” with Trump in mind, according to people involved in its drafting. These proposals were later reportedly presented to Trump when the Ukrainian president met with him in New York in September.
“One idea is to replace some of the US troops stationed in Europe with Ukrainian troops after the war. Another-first developed by Republican Senator Lindsey Graham, a Trump ally, according to people involved in drafting Zelensky’s “Victory Plan”-proposes sharing Ukraine’s critical natural resources with Western partners”, - reads the article.
Graham’s office did not immediately respond to a request for comment. According to a person informed about the meeting, “Trump was “interested” in two points”, - the newspaper points out.
Separately, business leaders in Ukraine are also reportedly negotiating with the government to give Trump “investment screening” powers, which, the newspaper writes, “would allow him to essentially pick and choose who can do business in the country”.
