The Coalition for Change and Unity-National Movement [UNM] announced that they will officially ask the Central Electoral Commission [CEC] to renounce their MP mandates. The leaders of both parties - Tina Bokuchava and Nika Gvaramia - announced the decision at special briefings.
“Parliament lacks legitimacy. We view participation as complicity in its illegitimate actions. This is Coalition’s stance and decision. Our list includes 82 individuals, all of whom reject any collaboration with a regime that undermines elections. We reaffirm that the parliament is illegitimate, and we will not legitimize it by our participation”, - said Nika Gvaramia, Coalition for Change.
“It was evident on election night that these elections did not reflect the free will of Georgian people. On behalf of the UNM, we declare that we do not recognize the legitimacy of these elections and will reject parliamentary mandates. Today, each member on our electoral list will submit individual letters to the CEC, requesting that no candidate from our party be registered and that our authorization issue not be forwarded to the Parliament for consideration. These letters represent our collective will, and we ask that no temporary mandates be issued to any individual on our list, preventing our names from being sent to Parliament for recognition”, - added Tina Bokuchava, Unity - UNM.
