Employees of Tbilisi Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as a result of the investigative actions, arrested one of the leaders of "Strong Georgia" coalition - Aleksandre Elisashvili.

He is charged with the crime under Article 156, II part, Sub-paragraph “A” of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which refers to persecution committed by using violence.

The committed crime envisions up to 3 years of imprisonment.

The investigation established that on December 2 of the current year, at one of the pharmacies located on Kostava Street,Tbilisi, Aleksandre Elisashvili attacked and physically assaulted A.B. (DoB 1954), a member of the political party Georgian Dream due to his political affiliations.

Aleksandre Elisashvili was arrested as an accused person as a result of investigative actions conducted by the law enforcement officers.

The investigation of the incident is being carried out under Article 156, II part, sub-paragraph “a” of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
