The Special Investigation Service [SIS] arrested a 40-year-old man for committing a lewd act against a 14-year-old girl.

The investigation established that the accused person contacted 13- and 14-year-old underage girls using social media, including through fake Facebook pages, using different names, and hiding his age and identity. The accused person engaged in sexual correspondence with the minors and sent them photo and video materials with pornographic content.

The SIS, in cooperation with the Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia, carried out urgent investigative activities and ensured the prompt acquisition of the relevant evidence. Among them, a personal search of the accused person, exposed to pedophilia, was conducted, as well as a search of the car and his private apartment. Mobile phones belonging to the accused person and other electronic information storage devices were seized as evidence.

As a result of the examination of the aforementioned materials, ten fake Facebook and Instagram pages were found on the accused person’s phone, through which he communicated with hundreds of people, including minors. In addition, pornographic and private photo and video materials were found, which the accused had illegally obtained over the years.

The SIS will conduct the investigation taking into account the best interests of the minor and will protect the rights of children at all stages of the investigation.

The SIS is continuing the case investigation and all criminal episodes of the accused person will be examined. The detainee will be charged within the time limit established by law.

Crime envisages imprisonment for a term of 5 to 9 years.
