The Prime Minister of Georgia said all Government agencies would be fully mobilised and coordinated to address the severe snowfall affecting the western Guria region.
"We reviewed the current situation [at the coordination headquarters meeting in Ozurgeti] in the region, which is quite difficult. Yesterday’s snowfall made conditions even worse. As a result, today it has become necessary to involve the military and the Defence Forces, and a decision was made accordingly.
All agencies will be fully coordinated and mobilised to combat the disaster. The situation is challenging. Many villages are cut off from the outside world, and communication with a significant number of them is not possible, requiring extensive work. Heavy machinery will be mobilised to restore connections with these villages as much as possible, and active efforts will resume immediately", - said Irakli Kobakhidze.
