Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, together with President Mikheil Kavelashvili, visited the Task Force Command established in Kobuleti to deal with problems caused by heavy snowfalls. The Head of Government familiarized himself with the situation in Adjara and measures taken by the Government of the Autonomous Republic in coordination with central authorities.

According to the Chairman of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara Tornike Rizhvadze, disaster relief measures are underway, and the situation in Adjara is fully under control. Roads to every administrative entity have been cleared. Public transportation and utility services have been restored. It was noted that certain challenges remain in mountainous Adjara. Still, clearing efforts are in full swing on roads leading to administrative entities, and everything will be done to meet the population’s needs shortly.

The Head of Government thanked the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara and every institution for their rapid response in dealing with issues caused by heavy snowfalls.

“We have familiarized myself with the situation in Adjara. Measures have been taken rapidly over the past few days. Most problems emerged in Batumi, Kobuleti, also Khelvachauri. Thanks to intensive efforts, however, roads are practically cleared. As for power supply, there are local cases. However, as we were informed, power will be back tomorrow the latest. Efforts will continue in full swing”, - said Irakli Kobakhidze.
