Last year, foreign intelligence services in Georgia, in order to pursue the interests of their own countries, actively tried to establish connections with various political forces, their leaders, reads the 2024 report of the State Security Service.

“In 2024, foreign intelligence services in Georgia actively tried to establish ties with various political forces and their leaders in order to pursue the interests of their own countries.

In addition, connections of individual media representatives with officials of foreign countries and, presumably, representatives of special services, from whom they received funding and instructions, as well as provided information on issues of interest, were noticed.

During the reporting period, attempts were revealed by special services of foreign countries to exploit persons visiting Georgia. Facts of suspicious activities by citizens of foreign countries on the territory of Georgia were noticed, such as establishing GPS coordinates, photo and video recordings with drones. Measures provided for by law were taken against some of the persons in the above category, including the activation of a border control mechanism”, - reads the report.
