Restoration, protection of the Ganmukhuri coastline are important, particularly for the proper development of the resort area - Kobakhidze

Restoration and protection works on the eroded section of the maritime coastal strip in the village of Ganmukhuri, Zugdidi Municipality, are set to begin. The project was reviewed by Prime Minister of Georgia.

As the Head of Government of Georgia stated, the restoration and protection of the Ganmukhuri coastline are important, particularly for the proper development of the resort area.

"The coastal strip in Ganmukhuri requires restoration and protection. There are serious problems in this regard, but the Ministry of Infrastructure has developed a plan under which the relevant works will be carried out - the coastline will be restored. This is important for many reasons, including the proper development of the resort area here. The potential is significant - the climate is excellent, and therefore, everything must be done to fully realize the tourism potential of the Ganmukhuri-Anaklia area. The planned works will greatly support the development of this potential.

In addition, a plan should be developed specifically for resort infrastructure development, supported by a clear vision. Active work has already begun in this direction", - said Irakli Kobakhidze.

He received detailed information about the planned works from Revaz Sokhadze, Minister of Infrastructure of Georgia. As part of the project, special works will be carried out to fill and protect 1.6 km of the coastal strip, which will significantly reduce the intensity of erosion and ensure the sustainability of the coast. The works, with an estimated cost of up to 5.5 million GEL, will be funded from the state budget.
