Mayor of Tbilisi said at the campaign launch event that the upcoming election campaign’s slogan and main pledge was “Peace to Georgia, More Goodness to Tbilisi”.
“When I first stood before the people of Tbilisi as a candidate for mayor 8 years ago, our slogan and main pledge was a “City Full of Life”. Back then, as I walked around the city, I tried to clearly imagine how this promise could be realised, what Tbilisi would become after fulfilling this promise.
The first thing I noticed at that time was the empty yards, parks, squares, and other public spaces. Unfortunately, in 2017, life in Tbilisi was not flowing as vibrantly as I had seen in many European cities.
And then I realized that the main thing that can give the city more life is the enthusiasm of the people - to have more connection with their city and fellow citizens.
Today, I think we all notice the abundance of people in courtyards, squares, and parks, in the central districts and the outskirts of the city, in cultural and sports spaces. Today, Tbilisi and each of its districts are much more full of life than they were eight years ago.
We are proud that in a challenging modern world, our country and our capital today are a kind of island of peace, which creates a special perspective for its development. Peace allows us to focus on bringing more goodness to our beautiful city. Without peace, it is unimaginable to talk about the city"s development and progress.
The fact that we have peace in the country today is thanks to the policy pursued by the Georgian Dream, and here I want to extend special gratitude to our Honorary Chair, Mr. Bidzina Ivanishvili”, - said Kakha Kaladze.
